Lego Therapy

Lego therapy is a social development intervention which uses Lego activities to support children’s social interactions and communication within a small group setting. They learn language skills such as giving and listening to instructions as well as social skills such as sharing, taking turns and working collaboratively. During the session, 3 or 4 children take on different roles to build a Lego model.

  • The Engineer reads the instructions and communicates them with the group. He must tell the Supplier what pieces are needs and instruct the Builder on how to build the model.

  • The Supplier finds the collect Lego pieces and passes them to the Builder. He must listen carefully to the instructions given by the Engineer.

  • The Builder physically builds the model, he must carefully listen to instructions by the Engineer and retrieve pieces from the Supplier.

  • The Foreman makes sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to be doing. They support the other roles in problem-solving when they meet a challenge.
