Last week, our school was abuzz with excitement as we celebrated World Book Day with a series of engaging activities, including fantastic book fairs. This week we had a very special author visit from Chitra Soundar.
Chitra Soundar, a renowned children's author known for her captivating stories and vibrant storytelling, spent time with our students, inspiring a love for reading and writing. She led a variety of interactive sessions, encouraging students to unleash their creativity and explore the magic of words. Chitra shared insights into her writing journey, explaining how she finds inspiration from her culture, everyday experiences, and the world around her. She read aloud from some of her popular books, bringing characters to life with her animated narration, and invited students to brainstorm story ideas, helping them craft their own imaginative tales.
The students were captivated by Chitra's engaging storytelling style and her warm, encouraging approach. They asked thoughtful questions about the writing process, learnt how to build strong storylines, and even explored the importance of using descriptive language to paint vivid pictures with words. It was a truly inspiring experience that left many students eager to pick up their pens and start writing their own stories.
The book fairs were also a huge hit, giving students the opportunity to browse and discover new books to add to their personal collections. It was heartwarming to see so many young readers excitedly picking out their next adventure, exchanging recommendations, and discussing their favourite authors.
